St.LukesHealth is proud to be the naming rights sponsor of the Launceston Marathon for the second year.
This year’s St.LukesHealth Launceston Marathon will be held on Sunday, September 23 around the North Esk precinct and early-bird tickets are available now until August.
“St.LukesHealth is pleased to continue its partnership with the Launceston Marathon and offer runners and walkers of all abilities an opportunity to participate,” St.LukesHealth CEO Paul Lupo said.
“The event aligns with our strategy of helping members of the community stay healthy, get well and live better.”
The race is the only off-road marathon in the state and will wind its way around Heritage Forest and the river foreshore.
Race director John Claridge said after the success of last year’s inaugural event he was looking forward to making this year’s race bigger and better.
“Last year we had a field of 350 entrants who braved some typical and wet Tasmanian spring-time weather to make the first year a huge success,” Mr Claridge said.
“As well as our marathon, half-marathon and 10.5-kilometre events, this year we have introduced a 5-kilometre fun run for those people who have just started their running journey or want to be involved.
“Of course, like last year the first, second and third male and female finishers across the line in all events will be presented with a trophy.”
This year’s event will be cup-free with participants provided with a reusable cup to use at drink stations along the course when they collect their race packs in the lead-up to the event.
“We are excited to be delivering this event cup-free and thought it was time to try and reduce the litter that can be accumulated at drink stations at running events,” Mr Claridge said.
“The cups are lightweight and easy to hold, and can be slipped into your pocket.”
Race packs can be picked up prior to the event at St.LukesHealth, Quadrant Mall, on Friday, September 21 between 10am and 3pm.
